What is the difference between and parent note and Dr. Note?

Parent notes are limited to 10 notes of combined excused and/or unexcused absences. Dr. Notes are unlimited. If you go to a dr for any reason, get a note. It saves parent notes for the little reasons.

If I call my child in, why should I send a note the next day back?

A note will make sure the absence is checked and properly marked. Also, a note is needed for auditing purposes.

 Why should I call in?

If you call in, you will not receive a call from the school. These calls keep coming until answered. A call lets us know that you know where your child is and not considered truant.

What time should my child be at school?

High School and Middle School start time is 7:30 am. They should be in the classroom in their seats ready to go at this time. There is a warning bell giving them 5 minutes to get to class.

What does TRUANT mean?

Truancy in Ohio constitutes any unexcused absence from school for students aged 6 to 18. Habitual truancy occurs when a student misses five or more consecutive school days, seven or more school days in a month or 12 or more days in a school year without a valid excuse. Chronic truancy arises when a student misses seven or more consecutive days of school, 10 or more school days in a single month or 15 or more school days in a school year. (per Ohio Truancy Law)

What happens once my child is TRUANT?

You and your student will be required to come in to complete an attendance intervention conference with administrator and a court appointed designee.
